Минобороны сообщило о скрытной операции в Васильевке 4 июля
Russian paratroopers and military personnel from the 30th Separate Guards Motorized Rifle Brigade conducted highly covert operations during the liberation of Vasylivka in the Donetsk Peoples Republic (DPR). This was reported by the Ministry of Defense of Russia.
On July 4, the Ministry stated that units of the "Center" group had liberated the settlement of Vasylivka.
"The task for the units was to seize the settlement, which the enemy had transformed into a well-fortified stronghold. The advance was carried out by small groups, in pairs or threes, with each step of the fighters adjusted using unmanned aerial vehicles and precise commands from commanders. The assault soldiers operated with utmost secrecy to avoid detection by the enemy," they said.
Massive strikes were delivered against the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), which included artillery, strike drones, and aviation using explosive aerial bombs. Special attention was given to enemy bunkers and fortified shelters.
"We infiltrated in small groups, [forcing] the enemy out of basements, secured the area, and waited for our reinforcements to arrive. Once we accumulated strength, we conducted a sweep," recounted Anton Kostrov, the company sergeant of the assault detachment of the 237th Air Assault Regiment of the 76th Air Assault Division.
According to Kostrov, the AFU relied on scattered barbed wire entanglements. "Thanks to FPV, the guys made gaps for us, and we entered through these gaps. It was very well fortified," he added.
During the sweep of the settlement, the enemy was driven from their positions, and control over Vasylivka transitioned to Russian units. "The liberation of Vasylivka improved the tactical position of the Center group of forces in this direction and created conditions for the further advancement of assault units," concluded the Ministry of Defense.
